reservoir swallow

oil on canvas, 1370mm x 1020mm

Rheidol reservoir. One summer I saw swallows and house martins skimming a giant mirror and could not forget it. I came back a year later in good weather but not the same conditions; so I asked a local friend, Rhian Thomas, when would be the best time to find the water so still again. She said early mornings.

I got up early next day and there was the mirror, and there were the birds.
